In the second quarter of 2021, the European Android market for tabletop board games showed varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users across popular applications, as reported by Sensor Tower. Here's a snapshot of how the top five apps performed during this period.
Chess by Chess Prince experienced a downward trend in downloads, starting from approximately 137K in the last week of March and ending at around 76K by the end of June. Weekly active users also decreased from 1.36M to about 1.06M in the same timeframe. However, revenue showed more stability, fluctuating around the low 80s in USD thousands, except for a dip to 42K in mid-April.
Chess - Play and Learn from Chess.com saw a decline in both downloads and active users throughout the quarter. Downloads dropped from around 121K to 74K, while active users decreased from 1.51M to nearly 1.27M. Revenue also exhibited a downward trend, peaking at 56K in early April before tapering off to 40K by late June.
For Checkers Online by CC Games, downloads declined from 119K to 58K over the quarter. Weekly active users followed a similar pattern, starting at 500K and ending at around 345K. Revenue saw some fluctuations with a notable peak at 76K in late April and ending the quarter at 75K.
Tic Tac Toe Glow: 2 Players produced by Arclite Systems maintained a relatively stable download count, with numbers ranging from 67K to 75K. Weekly active users saw a modest increase from 280K to 320K in mid-June, before dropping to approximately 299K. Revenue showed some variability, peaking at 52K at the end of May.
Lastly, 101 Okey Plus Rummy Board Game from Zynga displayed a strong revenue pattern, starting at 83K and reaching a high of 105K in mid-May, then closing the quarter at around 95K. Downloads began at 61K and had a slight decrease to 47K, while active users saw an overall decline from 1.24M to 1.29M.
